Shipping A Product With A Battery: Prepare The Review Before Purchase

Practical decisions before goods move. Explore supplier coordination, packing, quotations and delivery handovers.

Content updated:

Identify The Battery Configuration

Record the product and battery model, chemistry, capacity and manufacturer. State whether batteries are installed in the product, packed alongside it or shipped separately. Include battery count per item and per package, destination and intended transport mode. These are different shipping configurations; a product photograph alone does not establish acceptance.

Request Matching Evidence

Ask the supplier for battery label photos and the matching UN 38.3 test summary where applicable. Link documents to the actual battery model rather than a similar product. Report any swelling, damage, leakage, recall or uncertain condition before arranging transport. Do not send the goods to the receiving address while approval is pending.

Confirm Acceptance Before Dispatch

Send the specification, documents and proposed packaging to Jeton for a shipment-specific review. Confirm carrier acceptance, packing, marks, documents, charges and release instructions in writing. A document or a previous successful shipment does not approve a new shipment. Requirements depend on configuration, route and service; do not use a general battery guide as a shipping label.

Worked planning example

The Battery Document Names A Different Model

Situation

A supplier offers a cordless tool with an installed battery but sends a test summary for a different battery model. The shipment file is incomplete even if the tool photographs look familiar.

What To Do

  1. Record the tool model, battery label, configuration and supplier order together.
  2. Ask the supplier to explain the model difference and provide matching evidence. Keep the question pending until reviewed.
  3. Send the completed file for shipment-specific acceptance and packing review before dispatch.

What To Check Afterwards

Retain the approved battery model, documents and packaging version. A supplier’s substitution needs a new review; do not treat an old file as approval for changed goods.

Illustrative planning example; quantities are invented, not a customer shipment or a quotation.

This blank record prepares an enquiry. It does not classify dangerous goods, approve transport or replace a manufacturer’s test summary.

The receiving, checks, packing, charges and release scope are confirmed in writing for each shipment. Visible checks do not establish authenticity or functional performance.
